Recently a couple shared with me that the wife was feeling not valued or appreciated and the husband thought things were just going fine. While he felt like he was walking on eggshells at home at times and had no clue why, since he was clueless as to what to do about it, he just kept pushing on. And she continued to grow more distant. There ability to communicate about anything of significance virtually had stopped. Each was blaming the other for their challenges. At this point, some couples just continue life unhappily like this because they don’t believe in divorce. On the other hand, when others reach the breaking point, they simply decide to break and go there separate ways.
So why do people allow themselves to get to this point of crisis before any action happens. Why do people not begin working on their relationships to prevent arriving at this point before it’s too late? WHY?
In my case, the reason why is that I simply did not have any clue what to do. I was on the floor begging God to show me because I was hopelessly lost… and I was a Christian, a Sunday School teacher, and an Elder.
Based on the law of averages, I’m pretty that someone that is reading this right now either finds themself at this point of despair or knows someone that is. If so, what are you doing about it? Are you going to wait until it’s too late?
The good news is that THERE IS HOPE. Ironically I didn’t find the answers at church (just to clarify, I am not against churches). My hope began by running head first into brick walls until the pain was unbearable. Then finally I became open to wise counsel and learning what it looks like to actually live with the attitude of Christ through His Word and real life parables.
If you are or a friend is worn out from such hopelessness, would you be open to new learning? Would you look for wise counsel to help you process where you are at and how to get on a fresh journey of hope? If so, would you talk to your pastor or someone that you highly trust that has experience and accumulated wisdom in this type of renewal? It is very tough for someone to help guide you out that has not been there personally.
While I don’t desire to sound my horn, all I can tell you is that I have been there and by the Grace of God, He is delivering me to a life of purpose and joy. I would be honored to have the opportunity to come along side of you. It is for this reason I believe that I was led by God to develop mentoring programs.
