IS THE SKY REALLY FALLING?

I believe that I first started thinking about this question after reading Richard Carlson’s “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff and It’s All Small Stuff”.  Got a stress case in your life?  Of course most do.  Without question, many of us have mastered the neurotic art of spending much of our lives worrying about a variety of things all at once.  His point is that we will live much more stress free lives if we will step back and realize that things are rarely as good as they seem or as bad as they seem.  In making this statement, I want to acknowledge that occasionally some things that happen can be life changing and some tragic.  Those situations are not what this statement is referring to.

The statement, “Things are rarely as good as they seem or as bad as they seem” is in reference to most things that happen in our lives that we may tend to over-react to.  This is about worry, stress, and anxiety that we self-inflict into our lives that cause us to feel like we’re living in chaos.

Is there anything that you may be over-reacting to today for better or worse?  Would it help you to take a step back, take a deep breath, and re-focus on simply what is in your control and let go of what isn’t?  It’s time to exercise faith by being anxious for nothing, isn’t it?
