WANT PURPOSE AND JOY?

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.  Col 3:12-14.

There's really not much to add to this.  The trouble is that most of us have learned or know what we should do.  The biggest problem is that we don't know how to do it in practical, everyday ways.  The steps of learning that God is teaching me are the action steps that are leading me to be able to live out Col 3:12-14 more consistently. Are you also interested in growing in these virtues as well?

This is one of the driving forces that led me to write the book, Finding Purpose and Joy, It's a Journey.  (www.findingpurposeandjoy.com)

HOW’S YOUR FAITH?

Have you ever considered the question, “Does everyone have faith”?  What do you think?

Here’s one perspective.  Yes, everybody has faith in something.  For example, one might have faith . . .

·      That there is no God and no heaven or hell.

·      That there are many Gods.

·      That there is a God sometimes, when things work out the way we think they should.

·      That there is one God all the time that is sovereign and all knowing.

What faith do you claim?  I recently heard a message that linked spiritual maturity with faith.  It really resonated with me.  Maybe it will resonate with you as well.   A good barometer of our faith and spiritual maturity can be measured by answering these 3 questions . . .

1.     What is my irritability quotient?  Do I become irritable easily?

2.     What is my control quotient?  Do I get uptight when I lose control and things don’t go as I think that they should be going or want them to go?

3.     What is my gratitude quotient?  Do I find myself dwelling more on what is wrong with things or people than what is right with them?

Considering these questions, where do you feel you are at spiritually?  Are you happy and on track . . . or do you feel that it would be worthwhile to consider learning some new ways of doing life and making some changes?  If so, this is where I found myself to be.  Consequently it was one of the primary reasons that I wrote the book “Finding Purpose and Joy, It’s a Journey”.  Maybe it can be of help to you as well.
