FINDING PURPOSE AND JOY
LIFE MENTORING PROGRAMS
DO YOU EVER ASK YOURSELF QUESTIONS SUCH AS...
- "IS THERE MORE TO LIFE THAN THIS?"
- "WHY DOES MY LIFE FEEL LIKE I'M LIVING IN A WORLD OF CRISES?"
- 'WHY DO I FEEL LIKE I'M LOSING IN LIFE?"
- "WHY AM I EVEN ON THIS EARTH?"
- "HOW CAN WE RESTORE OUR DYSFUNCTIONAL MARRIAGE OR FAMILY?"
- "WOULDN’T IT BE NICE TO BE VALUED AND UNDERSTOOD?"
If so, you're not alone.
STOP AND ASK YOURSELF ANOTHER QUESTION...
- IS MY LIFE WORTH INVESTING IN FOR MYSELF AND THOSE CLOSE TO ME?

As your mentor I will . . .
- Establish a safe learning environment that encourages the mentoree to adapt to change and the freedom to grow.
- Listen attentively, always have your best interest in mind, and provide a safe confidential space for you to express your needs, wants and goals.
- Coach the mentoree on development in areas of emotional intelligence.
- These areas include helping the mentoree in learning to establish priorities, make positive choices, minimize stress, greatly improve relationships, and find balance in life.
- Use a step-by-step process tailored uniquely to connect with each individual where you are in life. The resource for this is my recently written book “Finding Purpose and Joy, It’s a Journey”.
- Facilitate the mentoree’s growth by drawing on many years of education and experience in mentoring.
- Share personal experiences gained through the school of hard knocks.
- Be completely committed to the mentorees total development in finding their PURPOSE so that the mentorees may begin experiencing true JOY in life.
WHAT DEFINES A GOOD MENTOREE?
For the very best probability for an effective mentoring process to occur, mentorees will need to . . .
- Clearly recognize their need by admitting that they are neither satisfied or happy with life as they are currently experiencing it.
- Realize that to be able to experience different and improved results in life will require change in how to approach life.

ARE MENTORING AND COACHING IDENTICAL?
No. People often confuse mentoring and coaching. Though related, they are not the same. A mentor may coach, but a coach is not a mentor. Mentoring is “relational,” while coaching is “functional.” There are other significant differences.
Coaches
- Listen well and ask questions to help the person dig out their own answers.
- Do not offer advice or give direction.
- Focus on professional and career development.
Mentors
- Listen well and ask questions to help the person dig out their own answers.
- Do offer advice and suggest direction.
- Mentoring typically is more relational and about who the mentoree really is as a person and how one can experience all aspects of finding fulfillment in life as a whole both professionally and personally.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “ONE-ON-ONE” MENTORING AND “GROUP” MENTORING?
One-on-One Mentoring
- Is more focused on individual development
- More personal attention given
- Greater individual development focus
- It’s confidential and safe
- More expertise sharing from mentor to mentoree
- Flexible scheduling
- Easier to do individual projects
Group Mentoring
- It’s focused on multiple development
- It’s less personal
- It’s confidential but with limitations
- Get input and feedback from multiple directions
- Involves both peer and senior mentoring
- Fixed schedule
- The benefit of group dynamics
- Less investment per person
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU MISS A GROUP SESSION?
- A private Facebook Group will be set up for each group.
- Each group phone session will be recorded and then an mp3 will be accessible to keep up with the group.
- The mp3 will also be useful to listen to again for further benefit.
IS THE MENTORING PROGRAM AND PROCESS A GOOD INVESTMENT?
It depends on the mentoree’s mindset.
- YES- If the potential mentoree answers “YES” to all of the factors that “DEFINE A GOOD MENTOREE”, he or she will probably see this mentoring program as a great investment. In this case, the question should be, “How can I not afford to do this?” What value can you put on getting on the journey to find your purpose and joy in life verses what is the cost of staying in the rut that you currently are experiencing?
- NO- On the other hand, if the potential mentoree reads “WHAT DEFINES A GOOD MENTOREE?” and answers “NO” to any of the factors listed, this program will probably not be viewed as a good investment and would be a good indicator that this program probably is not for you.
