WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO HELP?

Early on I was too self-conscious to write something like this.  Now God has given me the courage to take myself out of the picture and simply trust Him.

As many of you know, when I wrote the book, “Finding Purpose and Joy, It’s a Journey”, I did it because I believe that it is a message that God instilled me through the life he gave me to live.  Actually I’m sure that it is big part of my purpose in life.  Since the book has been published, people many times ask me, “How are things going with the book?”  This is how I answer that question, “My commitment to God is that I am willing to walk through whatever door He opens for me.  It takes the pressure off of me as I just do my part and trust Him for the results.”

One of the things that I believe that I am to do includes making the book known and available for people to find.   Like a farmer, if you don’t plant the seed, there will be no harvest.  What I am learning is that Amazon.com is a marquee place for that to happen.  The way books reach greater visibility on Amazon is driven by algorithms (fertilizer to the farmer).  And one thing that improves algorithms is book reviews.  So if you believe that the message of “Finding Purpose and Joy, It’s a Journey” would be beneficial to others, I would really appreciate your help.  You can do that by writing a book review on Amazon.com even if you haven’t bought the book through them.

If you would like to do this but haven’t read the book yet, I will email you the ‘e-book’ version or send you a paperback book free of charge (in the U.S).  Just email me and let me know your preference.  For the paperback, include your snail mail address and I’ll send out a signed copy.  My email address is [email protected].

On the other hand, if you have already read the book and would like to write a review, here are a few links that will refresh your mind about it’s content.

Thank you for your consideration.  If this is something that you aren’t feeling led to do, no problem at all.  I understand that not everybody will be drawn to do this.

DO YOU VALUE DIFFERENCES?

When I was in my 20’s, for some reason I thought that if you saw things differently than me, obviously you were wrong.  Unbelievable, right?  But have you ever felt that way?  If another person doesn’t agree with you there must be something wrong with them.  In fact, it’s a little bit hard to see what value they might have if they don’t agree with you.  And it may even be difficult to be friends with them.  Meanwhile, guess what, they probably are thinking the very same thing about you.  Isn’t this part of what causes the ‘fear dance’ in our relationships?

Life is teaching me that there are so many tragedies that happen when we hold so tightly to our own views.  Since we all have different temperaments and skill sets, what is someone else able to do that perhaps you wouldn’t or couldn’t do.  When we just focus on what’s wrong with other people, do you believe that they think we value them?  And if that happens, is it likely that they will see your value?   When we don’t value other people’s opinions or skills, whether we think they are absurd or not, don’t we potentially lock ourselves out of so much learning?

Are there any people in your life that may not feel valued by you?  Remember, today is the first day of the rest of your life.  And we all have the freedom to choose to change don’t we?

Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.  And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.  If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?  But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.  The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”  On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are un-presentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  1 Corinthians 12
