WHY DO WE NOT WANT TO CHANGE UNLESS WE FEEL PAIN?

Have you noticed that most people aren’t really interested in learning new and more effective ways to live life when things seem to be going relatively OK?  Perhaps there may be some arguments or relationships that are out of kilter at home and things may be a little out of sync, but hey, isn’t that just how life is?

If you’re interested in the rest of the story, read on…

Recently a couple shared with me that the wife was feeling not valued or appreciated and the husband thought things were just going fine.  While he felt like he was walking on eggshells at home at times and had no clue why, since he was clueless as to what to do about it, he just kept pushing on.  And she continued to grow more distant.  There ability to communicate about anything of significance virtually had stopped.  Each was blaming the other for their challenges.  At this point, some couples just continue life unhappily like this because they don’t believe in divorce.  On the other hand, when others reach the breaking point, they simply decide to break and go there separate ways.

So why do people allow themselves to get to this point of crisis before any action happens.  Why do people not begin working on their relationships to prevent arriving at this point before it’s too late?  WHY?

In my case, the reason why is that I simply did not have any clue what to do.  I was on the floor begging God to show me because I was hopelessly lost… and I was a Christian, a Sunday School teacher, and an Elder.

Based on the law of averages, I’m pretty that someone that is reading this right now either finds themself at this point of despair or knows someone that is.  If so, what are you doing about it?  Are you going to wait until it’s too late?

The good news is that THERE IS HOPE.  Ironically I didn’t find the answers at church (just to clarify, I am not against churches).  My hope began by running head first into brick walls until the pain was unbearable.  Then finally I became open to wise counsel and learning what it looks like to actually live with the attitude of Christ through His Word and real life parables.

If you are or a friend is worn out from such hopelessness, would you be open to new learning?  Would you look for wise counsel to help you process where you are at and how to get on a fresh journey of hope?  If so, would you talk to your pastor or someone that you highly trust that has experience and accumulated wisdom in this type of renewal?  It is very tough for someone to help guide you out that has not been there personally.

While I don’t desire to sound my horn, all I can tell you is that I have been there and by the Grace of God, He is delivering me to a life of purpose and joy.  I would be honored to have the opportunity to come along side of you.  It is for this reason I believe that I was led by God to develop mentoring programs.  If you are interested in learning more, just click on the link below.

ARE YOU WILLING TO REACH OUT TO A FRIEND IN NEED?

As some of you know, I've been mentoring people in our area, gratis, for many years and have thoroughly enjoyed it.  What I have noticed is that when people don't really invest in desiring to grow and change, growth and change rarely happens.  I suppose some of what Jesus told the disciples in Mark 6:4, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives (friends) and in his own home” may have factored into this to some degree.  After all, it was just Roger doing what Roger does.  Yet in my heart as I have been communicating with God, I have been sensing that He is giving me a message that I am responsible to share to greater ends.  So if I am going to do it, why not try to do it as effectively as possible?

It is with these thoughts in mind that I'm feeling led to start a couple of phone mentoring programs.  Since you have opened this blog and read this far, there is a chance that you too desire to spread Christ's love.  If that is the case, would you be willing to be ask God if He wants you to help share about these mentoring opportunities with your friends that may be experiencing difficulties in life?  Perhaps they are asking questions like, "Is there more to life than this?" or “Life is such a rat race and very stressful.”  And if they are, assure them that they are not alone.

The reasons that I believe that phone mentoring may be effective for some people is that…

·      They won’t have to go into an office to get ‘counseling’.

·      My job is to ask questions, listen, and understand.  Not to judge.

·      It can be done very confidentially by way of a high trust environment.

·      Their circle of friends need not know about it if they prefer it to be that way.

·      Comparatively it is very cost effective.

·      It will be non-threatening.

·      It will be their choice.  I will only communicate with potential clients that contact me directly.

·      They could live anywhere in the country and be part of this.

I want you to know that I am not doing this for personal glory or financial gain.   Rather my deep desire is to help people ‘find purpose and joy’ in their lives and to bring glory to God.

If you feel led to be part of this by sharing it with friends in need, I hope you will simply do it with a joyful heart and because you believe it truly may help them.   Your credibility is on the line too.  Trust is extremely important if we are to influence people in a positive way.  So do this only if you have trust in me as well as what you see when you look over my website as you learn more about the mentoring programs.

I am at total peace with this however it turns out.  I trust God totally for the results of this.  If He desires to use this vehicle to get His Message of hope out to more people, that would be great.  Either way, this belongs to Him.  We are just the mouths, arms, and legs.  I hope that you are sensing the same.

Thanks for your consideration!   Blessings to each of you!

Roger
