WANT PURPOSE AND JOY?

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.  Col 3:12-14.

There's really not much to add to this.  The trouble is that most of us have learned or know what we should do.  The biggest problem is that we don't know how to do it in practical, everyday ways.  The steps of learning that God is teaching me are the action steps that are leading me to be able to live out Col 3:12-14 more consistently. Are you also interested in growing in these virtues as well?

This is one of the driving forces that led me to write the book, Finding Purpose and Joy, It's a Journey.  (www.findingpurposeandjoy.com)

Thankfully, we all know those people who embody those qualities...compassion, kindness, gentleness, patience...love. Those individuals are like embers to our faith. We know we can draw near them when we need spiritual warmth and assurance. They can impact you as much with their prescence as with their words.

Roger, you're one of those lights to me and I'm sure to many others. Walking Israel with you and Susan will always be among my highlights of walking the earth.

Thank you for the kind words Mike. The words that you used in your comments are the words I would use when commenting about you . . . including walking the mountains in Israel with you and your Susan!

Roger, I enjoy your comment and selected verse. It reminds me of 2 Peter, chapter 1 verses 3-11. Specifically verse 8. It says if you have these qualities (those mentioned in previous verses) then they will keep you from becoming ineffective and unproductive in your pursuit of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ more intimately (the NET Bible- that is, off the internet). I find it interesting how as a recruiter people want to join an organization to get involved in a task that they think has more meaning and purpose than a secular job can offer. And that might be. It is a real blessing to be involved in an organization that promotes the work of Bible translation. But as you point out in your today's blog how meaning and purpose can be found in living out the Bible each day wherever you are by focusing on His principles and commands. Thanks again for the reminder. Barry Hohulin
