WOULDN'T IT BE NICE TO ENJOY CHRISTMAS GATHERINGS?

When people talk about Christmas gatherings sometimes it causes them to grimace.  Why is that?  My guess is that it may because of some annoying habits of others.  Or perhaps some unresolved conflict or differences of opinion.  Maybe something else.

But stop and think about the essence of Christmas.  Shouldn’t our get-togethers and celebrations include the very reason for Christmas… centered on Christ?  Doesn’t it seem that the best way to honor Christ would be to exhibit a Christ-like attitude?  So what does that look like?

GRACE: THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT- Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Self Control (depending on which translation one reads)

FORGIVE-  Forgive 70 times 7 times.  Forgive and you too will be forgiven.

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR- that probably would include family, wouldn’t it?

LOOK FOR THE GOOD IN OTHERS-  Many times we just see what is wrong with others.  Instead, look for the good in them.  They too are God’s creation.

If we focus on Christ this Christmas and take on His attitude, how can we do anything but experience some really good things.

Joy to the world! The Lord is come;
Let earth receive her king;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.

May your Christmas be filled with purpose and joy!

I can admit that sometimes it is hard to enjoy the holidays due to the differing perspectives of all the people that come together.

I just remind myself that everyone is different and we don't have to agree on every single thing. Then I just try to focus on the togetherness.

You're not alone Lea. Peace and Joy come when we can agree to disagree in an agreeable way and still be friends. I hope your Christmas season is filled with purpose and joy!
