DO YOU BELIEVE THAT "HOPE" CHANGES EVERYTHING?

Since Christmas, 2015, I have had a deep chest cough that continues to be relentless.  Visiting my family doctor, the emergency room, having a CT Scan, X-rays, and taking all kinds of meds and antibiotics hadn’t helped at all.  The last 2 weeks my condition worsened to it’s low point of coughing every minute of every day and night.  I was exhausted and had much abdominal pain due to all of the coughing.

Finally I was able to get an appointment with a pulmonologist.  HOPE!   Then hours before that appointment I got a call that it was going to need to be postponed because the doctor had an emergency surgery during my appointment time.  During the next 3 days until I could have the appointment, HOPELESSNESS set in.  I was amazed what crazy thoughts began going through my mind including “do I even want to live if this is the way it’s going to be?”

This Monday I finally had the appointment with the pulmonologist and had an intense coughing spell in his office.  He listened closely and asked many questions.  After reviewing the CT Scan and X-rays, he showed that he was taking my situation very seriously but still had no answers.  He put me on 3 powerful medications and wants to meet me again in a week.  While I have seen a little improvement from the meds, the biggest thing that I walked out of his office with was and is HOPE!  I do believe that we are taking the right steps to work through this and as a result, I am finding it much easier to trust God for the results.

This all reminds me of some fundamental truths that remove much stress from our lives…
  • Things are rarely as good as they seem or as bad as they seem.
  • Where we are at on any given day is not our destination.  Rather, it’s just one day of our journey.
  • Talk openly with somebody you trust when you’re feeling hopeless.
  • Never make major decisions when you’re feeling bad or hopeless.
  • Think closely about what you are placing your hope and trust in.
  • We can choose our attitude.

Please remember that HOPE CHANGES EVERYTHING!

Thanks for the reminder Roger - I'm sorry you're struggling with this health issue - it's hard enough when things hang on for weeks. Months takes its toll both physically and mentally. Hopefully the pulmonologist can help you get results (along with hope ;).
